Herriot Country in October
Such
a lovely trip is what faces the lucky Harlequin team who installs and
trains the fundraisers at our latest client, Herriot Hospice Homecare,
which is situated in the picturesque market town of Northallerton in the
midst of James Herriot’s North Yorkshire countryside.
Based at the Friarage Hospital, Herriot Hospice Homecare supports patients with life-limiting illness and their carers in their own homes.
It is an exciting period of change for the warm and friendly Herriot team, led by director Liz Pollard, as they are about to move premises and expand their fundraising plans and we are delighted to have been chosen to play an integral part.

At The House of St Barnabas
The
House of St Barnabas, a charity that has been helping homeless people
change their lives for over 160 years, has joined the Harlequin club.
The house started out as a residential hostel but in recent years the trustess have amended the charity's objectives to craete a centre offering life skills, training, personal development and career paths for London's homeless people and those in crisis.
In addition to its mainstream fundraising, the charity hires out suites in the grand 18th century Grade 1 listed building, which is centrally situated in London's Soho, for private events, from corporate hospitality to intimate dinners.
It is a really exciting and busy phase in the house's history and everything is advancing at a pace. The team there decided they needed an advanced integrated system to tie together all the various aspects of venue hire, income generation and their volunteer programme. We are very pleased to have been selected.
On Your Marks at St Kentigern's
It
is appropriate in Olympic month that a charity we see as very much “under
starter’s orders” are about to set off on a quest to achieve
new targets and set new records.
St Kentigern Hospice in St Asaph, North Wales have recently appointed Sarah Jones as their new Income Generation manager. Sarah joins fundraiser Jackie Jeffery to form a new fundraising combination full of potential. You only have to be around this fledgling team for five minutes to realize that the hospice’s fundraising is about to be transformed.
Sarah and Jackie both attended our presentation at Le Manoir in June where we showcased our new upgrade which includes several features synonymous with hospice fundraising. Soon after came their decision to recommend Harlequin Fundraising software to the hospice’s board of trustees.
We are delighted to announce the decision was ratified last week via a handshake between Acting Chair of the Board David Owen and Harlequin M.D. Tom Ellis.
This is an exciting evolution for St Kentigern’s fundraising and
we are very much looking forward to helping Sarah and Jacquie as they
set about achieving their goals.

Imagine Appeal's White Ball A Triumph
From
the white mannequins lining the drive as you approached the grandeur of
Knowsley House to the internationally acclaimed entertainment provided
by Jools Holland, the recently held Imagine Appeal’s inaugural White
Ball was a huge triumph raising in excess of £800,000.
Guests were greeted and led into a champagne reception held in the glamorous environment of a snow-white marquee in the centre of which was a white piano evoking memories of the iconic video that accompanied the John Lennon classic “Imagine”.
The
guests, numbering 700, then took their seats in the accompanying marquee,
imaginatively laid out in black and scarlet, and enjoyed a superb silver
service dinner, each course intertwined with speeches and songs from well-known
celebrities from Liverpool or in some way connected to Alder Hey.
The honorary patron of the Imagine Appeal, Yoko Ono, made an impassioned speech prior to Hollywood actor David Morrisey introducing a video presentation of the work that the hospital carries out. A unique auction followed in which guests were asked to bid for much needed pieces of equipment for different hospital departments.
The
event was then left in the capable hands of Jools Holland who with his
14 piece orchestra entertained the charity’s supporters until carriages
at 1 am.
The Imagine Appeal team use Harlequin Fundraising software. We congratulate them on the terrific success of the White Ball, a tribute to their hard work and meticulous planning.
